Hundreds of Abused, Injured and Homeless Animals in Pulaski County Need Your Help!

The Humane Society of Pulaski County is the primary agency of its kind in the state. Though our resources are limited, we receive hundreds of calls each year from individuals and agencies throughout the state reporting abuse. We provide information and advice because we don't have the resources to always respond more fully.

HSPC exists to rescue abused, neglected, injured and abandoned animals. That animals are victims of incredible cruelty is a tragedy and the horror of abuse is increasing every day. Abuse investigation and prosecution, securing animals from abusive owners and, in particular, providing necessary medical treatment and care are terribly expensive efforts.

Last year alone, the costs of medical treatment of abused and injured animals that HSPC rescued soared to over $50,000! Donations to our emergency medical fund were just over $5,000. We receive no city, county or state funds to help us in this effort and are now faced with tough decisons. Without your support, we cannot continue to rescue abused and injured animals.

Without your support, those who abuse will walk away without prosecution. Without your support, there will be no sanctuary for animals like Cherokee, Blaze and Jeremy. Without your support there will be no second chances.

Flurry There are many ways you can help.

  • Make a donation to help us care for the animals, to maintain our abuse/rescue program and to provide emergency medical treatment.

  • Help make the most horrific kinds of abuse a felony.

  • Learn about the cycle of abuse and the high correlation between animal abuse and the abuse of children, spouses, elderly family members and others.

  • Teach your children to treat animals with kindness. If your child--or a child you know--abuses an animal, get professional help. Animal abuse is NOT a childish prank; abusing animals during childhood is one of the key factors the FBI uses to identify serial killers. It gives a chilling meaning to the adage "Practice makes perfect."

  • Serve as a foster home to animals that have been abused, neglected, injured or abandoned.

  • Give these animals a second chance by opening your home and your heart by adopting.

  • If you or someone in your family (including a pet) is being abused--get help before it's too late.

Thank you for helping give abused animals a second chance at life!
