Comm. Outreach: Abuse Investigation
Shelter Director Kay Simpson is a licensed animal abuse investigator permitted by
Arkansas law to investigate and, with the co-operation of law enforcement, rescue
animals suffering from alleged neglect, cruelty, or abuse.
Here are some reports of such actions taken in the past on behalf of the Humane
Society of Pulaski County:
July 26, 2008 — 14 Dogs in Woodson
July 14, 2008 — 85 Dogs from Puppy Mill
2007 — Dalmation and Seven Horses in Faulkner County (includes SB777
Felony Cruelty Bill Interviews).
In yet another notable action this year, 19 live dogs were seized in Tull, AR
from a property with no occupants. It had had no electricity for six days.
Tragically, eight other abandoned dogs perished in this incident.
