December 9 and 10---Pet Photos with Santa, at Bath Junkie made $1583 for HSPC!!!!
Thank you to Stephanie Pierson for letting us hold the event in her beautiful store, to our Santa, Larry Price, and Santa’s helper, Martha Price. Everything went smoothly, and the preview I got of some of the pictures …well, they are wonderful!!
Thank you Bedford Camera, Channel 11, and our very talented and patient photographer, Casey Corbett.
Now through the end of the year,
we are having a BIG DOG event. The adoption fee will be reduced to $60 for any dog over 6 months old, and/or over 35 pounds. In addition to our usual shots, spay/neuter, bag of Science Diet etc, we also will include a collar and leash.
If you are interested in doing a
Puppy Love visit, contact Amanda at acarter01@yahoo. com. She has several lined up and would love some more volunteers. Three puppies had fun at ParkView Nursing home Saturday.
Volunteers, think about becoming
adoption counselors. Many more animals get adopted if there is someone to help them choose, and get information on, available animals. The shelter can be pretty overwhelming to potential adopters with no one to help them, especially now that it is so crowded. I will be happy to get you started, and give you some basic information. I am usually at the shelter Saturday after 1:30,(Check with me if you are coming especially for that)-- so anyone who wants to get started, this would be a good time.
Consider taking a
long-time resident home for a little while. They love a break from the shelter, and they always come back more adoptable, for having been in a home. I keep them on the website, and many get adopted from foster homes. Some adopters prefer it. And the shelter is so crowded.
Our
KROGER CARDS made us $487 last month. If you don’t have an HSPC Kroger card, please get one. If you have one, don’t forget to use it, and if you don’t know about them, let me know and I will explain this painless way to make money for the shelter.
Saturday Dec 16--. WHISKERS AT THE MALL if you are interested in helping at our off-site adoption center contact Chris at: Ellischris@uams. edu . This is a busy time at Whiskers, so please think about helping. I know Chris always needs help transporting the animals back and forth. He hasn’t been having many volunteers lately, and the store is getting busy.
Our
2007 Day Planners are now on sale. Check our website for places to buy them, or for a mail-in order form. They are better than ever and make great holiday gifts.
If you are a
FEDERAL EMPLOYEE, remember that HSPC is a Combined Federal Campaign agency, and please consider making us your charity of choice. Also, we have our beautiful new brochures, so if you have a place where charities can leave information (or want a speaker!), let me know, and will provide them. OUR CORRECT NUMBER IS 9032
We can always use
HELP AT THE SHELTER---walking dogs, taking them out to our dog park, brushing cats, playing with cats, and helping potential adopters choose the perfect pet.
**If you no longer wish to receive these newsletters each week, let me know, and I will remove you from the list. Also, they sometimes are marked “spam” because I send so many at once.
** Please encourage people you know to
give a shelter animal a chance, or consider fostering an animal for a while. We have had a lot of adoptions of animals in foster care.
Adoptions: Zoie-bug; Joy; Asia; Sea Breeze; Viper; Sugar; Nellie; puppies and kittens…and last week I forgot to mention Albert and Denise.
New Volunteers: Debbie Hinkelman; Candace Miller; Katherine Lincourt;
**Next volunteer Orientation: Monday January 8, 6PM at the shelter
And check our website
www.warmhearts.org. I add new animals every Sunday night.
For the Warm Hearts and Cold Noses...
