SB777 (Animal Abuse as a Felony ) UPDATE: See our website www.warmhearts. org
We update it several times daily with the latest word from Senator Madison, Eva Madison,
and Representative Pamela Adcock. Briefly, there will be a Special Session Monday in Room 138,
around 3:30 PM, where it will be heard by the House Agriculture Committee. If you can possibly
come to show support, it will help a lot. The only signs allowed should say Yes to SB777 or
something of that nature. See the website for more info. Several of us were there Friday, but
nothing happened.
I apologize for sending so many emails these past few weeks. We are eager to get the
SB777 passed, and a lot of folks are interested, and want to help. Also, I email about transports
that have legs of their trip going through Arkansas. We are on a National Transport list, and
help dogs and cats who are passing through Arkansas get to their new homes.. Many volunters have
been helping with this through the years. These are not HSPC dogs and cats, just ones that need a
ride. We never know when someone is planning to go just the place the dog (or cat) needs to go,
and would like a furry driving companion! And as puppy and kitten season is here, there will be a
lot of calls for foster homes. So, I try to have Foster or Transport or Abuse Bill in the subject
line so you are free to delete any that you are not interested in.
*** April 21, 2007 is the deadline for children grades K-8 to combine their love of animals and
of drawing in the Humane Society of Pulaski County 's Art Contest and Exhibition. Cash and other
prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third places in each category based on the message,
originality, and creativity of entries. See our website for details, and for a printable entry
form
***If you are interested in helping with the 2008 Dayplanner, but could not make the meeting,
let me know, and I will put you in touch with the committee chairmen. Or contact Suzanne Hamilton
2008 Chairman
suzham@aristotle. 225-1959 and she will tell you all about it.
And if you want to buy a page, the forms are on on the website.
Congratulations to long-time volunteer and suporter Jennifer Franks. There is a great article with
pictures in this month's Southern Living, featuring Jennifer and Bret, and their volunter work
for HSPC!. And thank you for mentioning HSPC, and the good words about volunteering.

We have parties scheduled for April 14, 21 and 28
****Our KROGER CARDS made us $490 last month. That's not very good, especially since we sold
so many!! If you don't have an HSPC Kroger card, please get one. If you have one, don't forget
to use it, and if you don't know about them, let me know and I will explain this painless way to
make money for the shelter. The trick is to remember to use them!! Note--you can only purchase
HSPC Kroger Gift Cards through us--at the shelter, the Mall store, or by mail.
Whiskers at the Mall, our off-site adoption center and store, always needs help.
Contact Chris at: ellischris@uams. edu.
We can always use HELP AT THE SHELTER---walking dogs, taking them out to our dog park,
brushing cats, playing with cats, and helping potential adopters choose the perfect pet.
**If you no longer wish to receive these newsletters each week, let me know, and I will remove
you from the list. Also, if you have a UAMS address, let me know if you are receiving them. I have
a feeling my new gmail address might be blocked.
Also, they sometimes are marked "spam" because I send so many at once.
Adoptions: Jimbo; Don; Cody and Copper; Giselle; Nick; Stormy (to be trained as a Therapy Dog);
Dazzle; Justus; Adrian; Karena; Puddles; Penny
