If you know someone who wants a barncat, let me know. While HSPC does not adopt out cats to be outdoors, we helped FuRR rescue 21 abandoned feral cats. Furr has placed most of them in homes, but there are a few who will not agree to live inside! They can be petted, and expect to be fed everyday; they have shots, and are spayed/neutered. Also, are very beautiful. If you have, or know of a place for one, let me know, and I will put you in touch with the FuRR rep I have been talking with.

We could use foster homes for: Sadie, pregnant black dog, very sweet Pamela, blonde Cocker Spaniel, with about two weeks to go. Frankie, a big ,friendly lovable dog who needs a quiet place to recover from leg surgery; he is almost there! A nice dog and her two week-old puppies; haven't seen her, but hear she is about 40 pounds. And, of course, we provide food and supplies, and take them all back.

We have been invited to walk dogs in the St Patrick's Day Parade, 3/17. If we can get enough "walkers", we can do it. Would anybody be interested? Would anyone make appropriate kerchiefs or ruffs for the dogs to wear? I have to let them know soon.

The 2008 Dayplanner Committee is organizing. If you would like to work on this, or find out more about it, come to the first organizational meeting. Last year's Dayplanner made $65,000, so you can see how important this is for HSPC. Date: Tuesday, March 6, 2007 Time: 6-7 p.m. Place: The Janet Jones Company (on Cantrell, across from Cantrell Gardens) You will meet the new committee chairmen and will have the opportunity to sign up for the following committees: Marketing/Page Sales (March-May) Silent Auction (August-October) Preview Party (October) Book Sales/Distribution (November-December) For more information, Suzanne Hamilton 2008 Chairman suzham@aristotle.net 225-1959

Grand Opening of Our New (second) Cageless Cat Room March 10 , 1-5 PM is the Grand Opening of our new (second) Cageless Cat Room. We can use donations of cat beds, scratching posts, hide-aways and toys. ***Thanks to Pat and Dan for the fabulous cat furniture! The cats are already loving it! And we never have too many (or enough) of those little oval fleecy white cat beds. Come see our new room on 3/10, and tell all the cat lovers you know. We have the nicest, prettiest cats waiting for homes. Nice as our cageless cat rooms are...a loving home is way nicer!!

We have actually moved some cats in to the space, and they are loving it. If you are interested in doing a Puppy Love visit, contact Amanda at acarter01@yahoo. com. She is scheduling visits. There are regular visits scheduled for the second Saturday of each month at Arkansas Health and Rehab, and she is scheduling others. Also, the first Saturday of each month, Mary and Leigh make regular visits to Women and Children First, from 10-11, and third Saturdays at Dorcas House, also 10-11. If you would like to go on one of these visits, let Mary know at mmstephens@ashland.com. Mary and Amanda are doing a great job getting our program back on it's feet!

****Our KROGER CARDS made us $693 last month. That's getting better! If you don’t have an HSPC Kroger card, please get one. If you have one, don’t forget to use it, and if you don’t know about them, let me know and I will explain this painless way to make money for the shelter. The trick is to remember to use them!! Note--you can only purchase HSPC Kroger Gift Cards through us--at the shelter, the Mall store, or by mail.

Next Birthday party--first Sunday in March. Hayden is helping, need more help

Whiskers at the Mall, our off-site adoption center and store, needs someone to take over management from Chris. Chris has done a fabulous job for several years, but has other demands on his time now. Managing involves scheduling help and transports, keeping track of inventory, etc. v Also, we need a few more people available for transporting animals from the shelter to the store, v and back again. and to help at the store on Saturdays. If you are interested, let me know. If you want more details, or want to help at the store next week, contact Chris at: ellischris@uams.edu.

If you are a FEDERAL EMPLOYEE, remember that HSPC is a Combined Federal Campaign agency, and please consider making us your charity of choice. Also, we have our beautiful new brochures, so if you have a place where charities can leave information (or want a speaker!), let me know, and will provide them. OUR CORRECT NUMBER IS 9032

We can always use HELP AT THE SHELTER---walking dogs, taking them out to our dog park, brushing cats, playing with cats, and helping potential adopters choose the perfect pet.

**If you no longer wish to receive these newsletters each week, let me know, and I will remove you from the list. Also, they sometimes are marked “spam” because I send so many at once.
