Our dogs had fun, and looked great, at the Easter Event at Pleasant Ridge, even though it was
cold and windy! Thanks to all the volunteers who braved the chill, and showed off our dogs.
Parisian store is very animal friendly, even lets dogs come in to shop. They let us parade the
dogs through the store! They want us to do dog washes and adoption events there this summer.
It should be a good venue in warmer weather!!
Thanks to Susann and others who bought feeding bowls for the animals. We really appreciate it.
Didn't realize how low we were until we started getting in the usual Spring load of kittens,
puppies, and pregnant dogs and cats that were probably turned out by their "families", just when
they needed homes the most.
*** April 21, 2007 is the deadline for children grades K-8 to combine their love of animals and
of drawing in the Humane Society of Pulaski County 's Art Contest and Exhibition. Cash and other
prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third places in each category based on the
message, originality and creativity of entries. See our website for details, and for a
printable entry form
Saturday April 28--9AM -12-Delta Dog Daze, at Delta Trust in the Heights. Delta is sponsoring this
event for us, all proceeds come to us. There will be a Mutt Strutt, dog contests, dogs in costumes,
etc. We have done this before, and it is always great fun. Of course, we want to have some
adoptables there...we almost always get a few dogs adopted at Dog Daze!! So if you want to escort
a dog, let me know...or bring your own dog, and enter it in some of the contests.
I will have the flyer on the website in a day or two. Stephanie has offered to escort a dog.
Anyone else? It's really a fun event!
***If you are interested in helping with the 2008 Dayplanner, but could not make the meeting,
let me know, and I will put you in touch with the committee chairmen.
Or contact Suzanne Hamilton 2008 Chairman

And if you want to buy a page, the forms are on on the website.
Thanks to all the new volunteers who have jumped in and are helping at the shelter.

***Our 2007 Dog Wash schedule has been established. Once again, first Saturdays May through
September, Trinity United Methodist Church; Third Saturdays, Kroger in the Heights,
fourth Saturdays June,July and August, First United Methodist Church in NLR.
We give sincere thanks to the churches and Kroger for allowing us to use their facilities for
our Dog Washes, and for allowing us to maintain the same schedule year after year.
We look forward to seeing lots of our dog friends, (and their humans), and making lots of money
for HSPC! We will have a printable calendar on the website as we get c loser to Dog Wash season.
We have parties scheduled for April 14, 21 and 28
****Our KROGER CARDS made us $490 last month. That's not very good, especially since we sold so
many!! If you don't have an HSPC Kroger card, please get one. If you have one, don't forget to use
it, and if you don't know about them, let me know and I will explain this painless way to make
money for the shelter. The trick is to remember to use them!! Note--you can only purchase
HSPC Kroger Gift Cards through us--at the shelter, the Mall store, or by mail.
Whiskers at the Mall, our off-site adoption center and store, always needs help. Contact Chris at:
ellischris@uams.edu.
We can always use HELP AT THE SHELTER---walking dogs, taking them out to our dog park,
brushing cats, playing with cats, and helping potential adopters choose the perfect pet.
**If you no longer wish to receive these newsletters each week, let me know, and I will remove
you from the list
Also, they sometimes are marked "spam" because I send so many at once.
Adoptions: Arthur, Humphrey, Callie and Sadie (together), Melissa, and Lester. And lots of
puppies and kittens.
And check our website. I add new cats and dogs every Sunday night! (Okay, I missed this week--
the shelter was closed Sunday, so I didn't get a chance to take pictures!)
**Next volunteer Orientation: Monday april 9, 6PM at the shelter.
