As of today, we do not have any of the dogs rescued from the U-Haul trailer; the case is being reviewed by a judge on Monday, and we may get some later this week. I'll let you know as soon as I hear.

Needed- Treat Jar Painters ! "Reigning Cats & Dogs" features hand-painted treat jars/pet bowls every year. We need volunteers to do that this year. You do not need experience, but the cost to participate is $25. (This covers the bowl and final processing) The finished project is placed in the auction. There are seats available for this fun event on September 20 from 5:30-7:30 at The Painted Pig in the Heights. Contact Melissa Campbell to reserve your seat at mmc0402@yahoo.com.

Our last Dog Wash for the season made $1052. Thanks to Gene, Billye, Sam, Mary Beth, Lynne, Jerod, Hannah, Tony , Dustin, Kyle and Leslie, and Margie. Our total for the year is $9600 for our animals!! Thanks to every one who has helped this summer...especially our "regulars"! That is a lot of money!

Sunday September 23 WASH EVERY DOG DAY at the shelter. If the weather is good, and we can get enough volunteers , we would like to set up our dog wash equipment at the shelter (before we put it away until next year) and wash every dog . We have done this before, and, yes, it is do-able! We figure it will take from 11-6; let me know what hours you can help...and I'll let you know on Thursday if we have enough helpers! Our shelter dogs need baths, too! It is actually a lot of fun--hard work, but fun.

Our Kroger cards made $710.00 for July! Please remember to use them. You can purchase them at the shelter, or at our Mall store. (You can't get them at Kroger). If you don't know how they work, let me know and I'll explain this painless way to make money for the shelter.

We have a wonderful Humane Ed program going, so if you know of anyone who would like Christine to come to your school, library, daycare, church, business…to do a program on animal care, and bring puppies!!!...let me know. Christine is now a Certified Humane Educator, and does a wonderful job

Saturday October 20 from 11-2 there will be a program for people with disabilities in Murray Park . They have asked us to bring some dogs for the attendees to play with . If some volunteers would be willing to take some, that would be very nice. The dogs love an outing, too! Barbara has volunteered to take a dog , and a few others

Also October 20th--need volunteers to take adoptables to Oktoberfest at Lutheran High. Let me know if you are interested...

For the past several weeks, our spot on Channel 4 (Thursday mornings) has been preceded (although not always immediately) by a "Pet of the Week is brought to you by Bedford Camera", or words to that effect. It would be nice, if you are in the a Bedford Camera store (one's in North Little Rock and there's at least one in Little Rock), to drop in and thank the manager for Bedford's support --

Whiskers at the Mall, is our off-site adoption center and store . They really need a new manager, Chris would like to be able to spend less time there. If you want to help Saturday 9/22, (or take over as manager!), contact Chris at ellischris@uams.edu . We will also be needing a new (free) location before long, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know
