Our Dog Wash only made $378. Don't know why, it was a nice day and we had enough help. Thanks to
the usuals, Gene, Billye, Margie, Jerod, Hannah, Tony, Stephanie K, and this time Mike, and Toni.
The event at Barbara Graves made us $435, and lots of new friends. Thanks Gene, Kathleen,
Christine, Jack, Jennifer, Sherry, Amanda, Lori, Kelly, Dawn...Any others I can't remember
.
Don't have the results of the Volley Ball Tournament, but I know our dogs had fun. Thanks Denise,
Joanna, Brad and Jennifer...anyone else that I forgot
The Rotary Club of Maumelle is having their 3rd annual Dog Show on September 8th from 9am-noon,
and has invited us to speak about adoption and spaying/neutering pets and also to show off some
cute adoptables. If you would like to take an adoptable over to this event, let me know. It is a
short time frame, and early, so shouldn't get too hot. And it should be fun to see the Dog Show!
The shelter is continuing the adoption specials through August; the cost of adopting a cat or dog,
kitten or puppy, is be $50 instead of $75; it will still include everything---shots, spay, etc.
So if you were thinking of adopting, this should be a little incentive.
Our Kroger cards made $597.00 for July! Same as June!. Please remember to use them. You can
purchase them at the shelter, or at our Mall store. (You can't get them at Kroger). If you don't
know how they work, let me know and I'll explain this painless way to make money for the shelter.
We have a wonderful Humane Ed program going, so if you know of anyone who would like Christine to
come to your school, library, daycare, church, business…to do a program on animal care, and bring
puppies!!!...let me know. Christine is now a Certified Humane Educator, and does a wonderful job

event, contact Debbie at 455-2909 or nicsmom5@aristotle.net .
Saturday October 20 from 11-2 there will be a program for people with disabilities, in Murray Park.
They have asked us to bring some dogs for the attendees to play with . If some volunteers would be
willing to take some, that would be very nice. The dogs love an outing, too! Barbara has
volunteered to take a dog
Whiskers at the Mall, our off-site adoption center and store will be closed 8/25, and also 9/1
for the holiday. Chris needs help. They really need a new manager, Chris would like to be able to
spend less time there. If you want to help Saturday Sept 10, (or take over as manager!), contact
Chris at ellischris@uams.edu . We will also be needing a new (free) location before long, so if
anyone has any ideas, please let me know
Puppy Love
Here is the schedule for August ;

Mary and Leigh make regular visits to Women and Children First on first Saturdays 10-11, and third
Saturdays at Dorcas House. If you would like to help at one of these, contact Mary at
mmstephens@ashland.com
Encourage people you know to come down and adopt a dog or cat. We have so many more than we have
room for. And shelter animals make the best pets!! We have so many wonderful cats and dogs just
waiting for a good home.
Dogs having fun in the park are getting adopted faster. People love seeing them having fun,
instead of sitting in a cage. So come down and take some out to the park! And cats need petting
and brushing, and everyone needs attention! And you can help keep cages clean and water bowls full.
Adoptions: Jelly (Lily), Dottie, CoCo, Carley, Nala (the blind kitty!), Bozo, Frankie, Patience,
Caesar, Goldie, Gizmo, Jeff
Next Volunteer Orientation : Monday August 20, 6 PM at the shelter
And check our website www.warmhearts.org
I add new animals(and update adoption status) every Sunday night (and sometimes during the week)
For the Warm Hearts and Cold Noses...
