Dog Wash at Trinity made $1057. John and Billye and I were the only ones there at first, and the
dogs started arriving so fast we didn’t have time to set up our tubs on legs. So it was bending
over! Ouch, groan!!! And since three people can only wash one dog at a time, some people left
because they (and their dogs) were getting too hot waiting in the parking lot.
Then Gene and Justin came, and helped a lot. Then Jerod, Hannah, Dustin and Margie came and we
were able to keep up. We had a good day; it would have been better if we had more early morning
volunteers. Much thanks to the folks who did come to help…
Next Dog Wash 8/18, at Kroger. Need help!!! Early, for set-up!
We need foster homes for:
1. Bubba (on our website)…a pretty, cuddly Siamese mix cat. Bubba is depressed, and won’t
eat unless he is petted and fussed over. He needs to be in a home where he will get lots of
loving attention. He loves to sit on laps and purr.
2. Honey. Honey is a Shi Tsu type dog with some medical problems. She needs a thyroid pill
twice a day,(we’ll provide), weekly medicated baths (we’ll provide), and loving care
(you provide!). Although she is probably only about 5 years old, Honey does not see or hear
very well, and doesn’t have much fur (it is starting to come back; she was bald). She had a
massive ear infection, since treated, and we think her hearing is improving. Mostly, she needs to
be in a less stressful environment than the shelter. She is sweet and friendly.
Trav’s Game Wednesday at their new park…bring a collar or leash and get $3 off ticket. See three
of our dogs run across the field!
Thanks to the folks who helped with transports. I know Mary did one, and Ann and Robert did one
this weekend. More dogs saved! ( I don’t know who does them unless you tell me...the runs are not
HSPC events, so the responses are to the transport coordinators,, who are often in other states)
.
Thanks to all the cat people who came out today to help Sandra and Judy identify all the cats.
They got the back cat room done…cats now have collars with engraved tags, or tape collars with
their names. And we photographed them all, and will put a picture in each one’s paperwork. Thanks
to Barbara, Wanda, Shari, Sharon, Katie, Amanda and Susan. (I think that’s everyone)
The Little Rock Volley Ball League is holding the 2nd Annual Volley for Paws, and will again make
us the beneficiary of their tournament in Murray Park. The date is August 18 and we need to take
adoptables. The players were disappointed that we didn't have any there last year! This raises a
lot of money for HSPC, plus...there are people eager to meet and adopt our dogs. Please think about
escorting your favorite dog! It will held be held at Murray Park again down by the river at the
City of Little Rock Grass Volleyball Courts.**** Folks, let's think about taking some dogs .
John and I wanted to, but we have a dog wash!! These folks are doing a lot for us, and want to
have us there with dogs. Please think about taking one for a little while. And watching the games!!
Barbara Graves Intimate Fashions is having a fund raiser for HSPC on Thursday August 16, all day. We will get a % of all sales.
We have done similar events, and always get donations and adoptions as well. Please think about
taking an adoptable over. I would like to set up shifts..someone to set up around 10, and two-three
hour shifts until around 5-6.Let me know if you can help. Gene, Christine and Jack, Kathleen, and v
Sherry will be taking dogs
The shelter is continuing the adoption specials through August; the cost of adopting a cat or dog,
kitten or puppy, is be $50 instead of $75; it will still include everything---shots, spay, etc.
So if you were thinking of adopting, this should be a little incentive.
Our Kroger cards made $597.50 for June. Please remember to use them. You can purchase them at the
shelter, or at our Mall store. (You can't get them at Kroger). If you don't know how they work,
let me know and I'll explain this painless way to make money for the shelter.
We have a wonderful Humane Ed program going, so if you know of anyone who would like Christine to
come to your school, library, daycare, church, business…to do a program on animal care, and bring
puppies!!!...let me know. Christine is now a Certified Humane Educator, and does a wonderful job
Critter Camp
Christine will do a Humane Ed program, such as basic animal care and safety, along with interactive programs like playing with
puppies in the dog park, visiting kitties in the cat room, and story-telling.
We are flexible on ages, but would like to limit each session to 12. Parents do not have to stay,
and we will have cool drinks. Kids can bring sack lunches. Contact me if you are interested in
bringing your children, or helping (or both!) July is all booked, some spots available in August.
We have gotten a great response
Info@warmhearts.org or 580-2966 after 5PM. There are still a few openings for August 24

Saturday October 20 from 11-2 there will be a program for people with disabilities, in Murray Park.
They have asked us to bring some dogs for the attendees to play with. If some volunteers would be
willing to take some, that would be very nice. The dogs love an outing, too!
Whiskers at the Mall, our off-site adoption center and store needs help. They really need a new manager, Chris would like to be able to spend less time there. If you want to help Saturday August 11, (or take over as manager!), contact Chris at ellischris@uams.edu

Encourage people you know to come down and adopt a dog or cat. We have so many more than we have
room for. And shelter animals make the best pets!! We have so many wonderful cats and dogs just
waiting for a good home.
Dogs having fun in the park are getting adopted faster. People love seeing them having fun,
instead of sitting in a cage. So come down and take some out to the park! And cats need petting
and brushing, and everyone needs attention! And you can help keep cages clean and water bowls full.
Adoptions: Gretel and Suzy (together); Krystle; Nixon; Cuddles; Piglet; Cissy; Nixon;Lolly;
and some kittens
Next Volunteer Orientation : Monday August 6, 6 PM at the shelter
And check our website www.warmhearts.org
I add new animals every Sunday night (and sometimes during the week)
