Turning Cruelty into KindnessNoted editorial cartoonist John Deering, of the Arkansas Democrat/Gazette, has always been a friend and donor to the Humane Society. His most recent donation resulted from an amazing turn of events. A senator from New Jersey saw a cartoon of his about the Michael Vick affair and wrote Mr. Deering asking to purchase this work. The artist agreed to turn over the original piece in exchange for a donation to our organization. The legislator gladly wrote a check to the Humane Society for this piece. Although justice may never fully come to Michael Vick for his horrible crimes against animals, it's nice to see how humanitarians like John Deering and the anonymous senator can turn bad into good.
