EMERGENCY FOSTER HOMES NEEDED - Polk County
For many years an individual has operated a "rescue group" in Mena, Arkansas, and had animals in various stages of maltreatment. The Polk County Humane Society now has the animals safe in hand. They need help. Pulaski County Humane Society, the Polk County Humane Society, CARE, and other animal groups are working together to help with this difficult situation.
If you can help, please contact Nancy Thaden at (501) 224-7859 or email Nancy at

There are 130 dogs and three cats. The Polk County Humane Society is housing these animals. It's a very small facility and unable to care for this many animals. HSPC and other agencies are trying to assist and to find temporary foster homes for the animals.
We are gathering up supplies to help the Polk County Humane Society care for them--especially needed are: Blankets, Tarps, Flea and Tick Control Products, Poop scoopers and Wheelbarrows.
IAMS has donated enough food for a while, and there was also a large donation of leashes. They can't take any more doghouses, because of space limitations. It is housing and shelter items that are the emergency needs right now.
If you could offer a temporary home for any of these animals, or can donate a tarp, blankets, or some flea and tick control products, or know people who might....please let us know.
This group has always been sowonderful about responding to animals in need and we hope to offer substantial help this time too.
Thank you for helping. If you have questions, ideas, suggestions, please call Nancy at (501) 224-7859 or send email to
