Our Volunteers have been kept really busy. Our Dog Wash season ended with $9000 for our dogs and cats, and lots of clean dogs in Little Rock. And all the shelter dogs got a bath before we put away our tubs and hoses for the year. (See Reno and Leonardo on the website under "Featured Dogs")

Our shelter dogs, and one brave cat,(see Peg, on the website under "Featured Cats") participated in our Puppy Picasso Day, where they got a chance to produce beautiful paintings for sale at our new Mall Store, and also for auction at the upcoming Reigning Cats and Dogs. We also had a "special order", and two "guest artists" (non-shelter dogs) who wanted to paint. The special order and two guests made generous donations to the Humane Society, and we hope the sales and auctions will be big winners also.

We got almost 90,000 signatures on the petition to put animal abuse as a felony on the ballot. Now we have to get out and vote YES on Initiated Act 1.

The Mall Store/Adoption Center opened, and is open every Saturday in University Mall. Come see the beautiful animal-related merchandise, visit with our animals, and come help make this a success.

We have had volunteers and animals at Harvest Fest, Pause for the Paws, the Cat Show and other community events.

We have had lots of Birthday Parties at the shelter, and these have brought in donations, animal gifts, and lots of personal attention for our dogs and cats.

And our volunteers have been wonderful about taking in foster animals. So many kittens and puppies have had a better chance because of the nice folks who gave them a safe and loving environment in which to spend their early weeks. We have fostered hundreds of kittens, puppies, and some momma cats and dogs this summer/fall.

Now we are getting ready for our annual Reigning Cats and Dogs, which, as you probably know, will be at the DoubleTree Hotel, November 9. Tickets are available at Premium Pet, Gallery Flowers, and the Mall Store, or by calling the shelter at 227-6166. This year, it is honoring the Osborne Family. We also have posters, so if you could put up posters, that would help get the word out. Posters can be picked up at the Mall Store, the shelter, and at Gallery Flowers, on JFK in NLR.
