** Central Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association (CAHJA) first horse show will be March 22 and
they are donating the proceeds of all concession sales, raffles and a portion of the entry
fees to the Humane Society. We have been invited to bring some adoptables, and pictures of
other adoptables...this would be a good outing for our dogs, an opportunity for some adoptions,
and a fun day, especially if you like horses. And we really appreciate being the beneficiary.
**Birthday parties! 3/2 and 3/16...Hayden and Laura are helping.There will be two parties on
the 16th!-- one at 1PM and one at 3:30, with some overlap (they're friends!).

**March 15 is the St Patrick's Day Parade. Lorrie has offered to coordinate it. She did such
a great job with the Christmas parade. If you want to take a dog, and/or help Lorrie,
let me know, and I will put you in touch! We did this last year and it was fun, but it will
be great to be more organized this year! Several folks have signed up already.
**April 18/19 is Earth Day, and the Zoo has again invited us to set up with handouts and
adoptables. I know it is a long way off, but it would be great if we could organize something
and do it. We haven't done it for the past two years, but it would be nice to participate again.
The dogs we take always enjoy an outing.Erica has volunteered, and Leslie and her husband.
Tell me which days you can help. We'd love to have at least 8 people on Saturday, and will be
happy for as many as we can get on Friday!! We plan to have a book showing all of our
adoptables, a poster for Special Friends Sponsorships, and lots of adoptables in person
(or "in dog?").
**April 26, "Craws for the Paws" fundraiser at RiverMarket west pavilion. Craw fish, beer,
live music, fun...more information will be on our website soon.
**Our Kroger cards made $599 for January... If you don't have one, please consider getting one;
if you have one, please remember to use it..and if you don't know about them, contact me, and
I'll explain..
**Folks, Kay has asked that volunteers follow some guidelines: when taking dogs to the dog park, :
*Not too many dogs..no more than 3 per volunteer, and no more
than 5 in each section of the dog parks. .
* Pick up after your dog.
* Never leave dogs alone in the park.
* Remember to put it back.
* Make sure the gender mix isn't such that we'll get puppies.
* Make sure that all dogs have someone watching them at all times
* If you don't know the dogs, ask staff if they get along with other, or if they have special
friends they like to play with..
* Check collars, and make sure they aren't loose enough to slip off, or too tight..
* When taking puppies out (and we'll soon be having lots of puppies) make sure they have had
their second set of shots, and of course, like big dogs, never leave them unattended....
**Dr Medlock, our staff vet, has put a green binder up front, for volunteers to write down
any illness or problems that they might observe. She promises to look at it first thing when
she comes in. .
**Adoptions: Samuel; Honeydew; Pete; Bertie; Ellie Mae; Laurence; Sage.
**Welcome New Volunteers Kate and Sarah Jackson;Jill Farris; Justin Kurz; Christi Seatts;
Amanda Farrar; Britney Papalardo; Alexis Anderson; JaNay Dunn; Candance Hulett; Micah Sutton;
Meg Dunn; Amy and Haley Bush.
**The shelter could use donations of copy paper, and vaporizers...the kind you can put Vicks
in..(the old kind!)..if you have any you no longer use, or see some at a good price,
we'd appreciate them. They really help cats (and dogs) with respiratory problems, and we have
quite a few of those!
**Next volunteer orientation: Monday March 3 at 6:00PM at the shelter..
And check our website www.warmhearts . org. I update every Sunday night. And even more of
our animals can be seen on www.Petfinder.com.
