HSPC VOLUNTEER EVENTS 3/8/2004
Saturday, 3/13 Whiskers at the Mall--our offsite adoption center and storewe need help 10-4, and transporting animals. If you can help, contact Chris Ellis at dcellis@uams.edu. Chris has taken over scheduling from Tony. Tony is transferring to Germany for four years... Tony has done a great job at Whiskers, and we will miss him. Also, we need help Friday night bathing animals and getting them ready. Kimber had been helping the staff with this, but her mom has had a stroke, and Kimber is pretty busy helping take care of her. The staff really appreciates Friday night help.
Thursday March 25, there will be a group of Girl Scouts working on their Pet Care Badge at HS, starting at 10AM. Ann is our Scout Coordinator, and could use someone to help her with this. She has the materials.
We can still use more
clerical help with the Science Diet cards; weve made real progress, but could still use help. This is a requirement of the program we have with Science Diet, and we kind of got behind in sending them in.
**Saturday March 13We will be doing Pet Photos at our Mall store on the second Saturday of every month. Volunteer Ann Linton sets up with a digital camera and printer. She did Valentines photos, and they were a big hit. Her first shoot will be March 13, and she would love to have an assistant. Billye will be helping until noon. Ann will be there 10-3. I can e-mail or fax flyers about this, if you would like to distribute some. Let me know. The flyer is on our website, and can be downloaded, also. Doesnt everyone want great pictures of their dogs, cats, kids, bunnies, etc???
We have firmed up our
2004 Dog Wash Schedule. As before, first Saturdays May-September at Trinity United Methodist Church; Third Saturdays at Kroger, Taylor and Cantrell; and June 12, July 10, and August 21 at First United Methodist Church in NLR. We made $12,000 last year. With the additional dates, we should break $15,000!!!! Well have a calendar on the website soon.
Future Events:
April 3 - ESPN Retriever Trials in Lonokewell have a booth and some adoptables
April 23--- Earth Day at the Zoo. We set up an information booth and take adoptables
Adoptions: Bennie; Gaho; Tina Brown; Helen; and lots of kittens and puppies. Helen is our 16 year old blind and deaf spaniel. (She is on our website). A wonderful family in Hot Springs adopted Helen, and now she has a home where she is loved and cared for in her remaining years. Last we heard from her, she was snoozing in the sun on the porch, with a twelve-year old boy who called to tell us he thought she was beautiful. There really is a home for everyone if you give them the chance to wait for it!
New Volunteers: Allison Henry; Laura Otter; Danielle Finch; Chandra West; Kathleen Kirkpatrick; Linda Ball; Christi Sanders
Check us out here on our website:
www.warmhearts.org; - I update the adoptables every Sunday night. And check in on the
KTHV PetCam. You might catch a kitty or puppy doing something cute! Note, there are three adorable Lhasa/ShiTsu type dogs on the web this week
Angel Wing, Piglet and Gidget. They are all young, good-natured, healthy dogs. You probably know someone who would want one of them. (Call first and make sure they are still available).
For the Warm Hearts and Cold Noses...
