Sunday February 29--Birthday Party at the shelter-- 1:30PM

Day Planner / Calendar --People in the horse community are so impressed with the work our shelter manager, Kay Jordan, does in rescuing horses, that they are working with us to produce and market a day planner for 2005. This planner, based on the one Tulsa SPCA has been so successful with, features a photo of a sponsor's pet(s) (with or without people) on a tabbed monthly page, or on a week-at-a glance page. There are various sponsorship levels, with different benefits levels.

Help needed: graphic arts layout; selling (or buying!) sponsorships; low-cost printing; possible artwork for cover. If you are interested in any of this, let me know, and I will get you sponsorship forms, information, or anything else you need. We are getting started now, and have lots of great help from horse lovers. The planner will also feature cats and dogs, and any other pets you might have!

Sat-Sun March 6 and 7there is a horse event at Hestand Stadium in Pine Bluff. We have been invited to set up a booth to sign up sponsors for our day planner. Anyone interested? We might also take a few adoptables.

Sunday March 7-- Birthday Party at the shelter

We can still use more clerical help with the Science Diet cards; We've made real progress, but could still use help. This is a requirement of the program we have with Science Diet, and we kind of got behind in sending them in.

Very Good News Update: Long-time volunteer Louise Johnson is sponsoring the spay/neuter of every adult dog presently in the shelter. We have contracted with a vet to do this at a discounted rate, at the shelter, starting 2/18. We will finally be able to get caught up. **** Twelve male dogs were neutered last Wednesday!!!

We have firmed up our 2004 Dog Wash Schedule. As before, first Saturdays May-September at Trinity United Methodist Church; Third Saturdays at Kroger, Taylor and Cantrell; and June 12, July 10, and August 21 at First United Methodist Church in NLR. We made $12,000 last year. With the additional dates, we should break $15,000!!!! Well have a calendar on the web site soon.

Our Special Friends program is doing well, and we have over thirty sponsorships; some lucky dogs (and cats) have Special Friends that come and spend time with them, and that has helped them a lot.

There are so many very shy dogs at the shelter who really need extra attention. Consider choosing one or two--Merlot, Layla, DonJuan, Gingersnap, among others..who are too shy or frightened to come out of their cages. . Some time spent building their trust and confidence will go a long way toward getting them adopted.

Adoptions: Clementine; Maddi; Col Glenn; BJ Miller and lots of kittens and puppies

New Volunteers: Jan Jackson; Melissa Jarvis; Pat Baker;Judy Bruns; Alicia Toth; Tammy Hall

Check our web site: www.warmhearts.org - I update the adoptables every Sunday night. And check in on the KTHV web site - you might catch a kitty or puppy doing something cute!
