HSPC VOLUNTEER EVENTS 3/22/2004
Saturday, 3/28 Whiskers at the Mall--our offsite adoption center and storewe need help 10-4, and transporting animals. If you can help, contact Chris Ellis at dcellis@uams.edu. Also, we need help Friday night bathing animals and getting them ready. The staff really appreciated the help Friday night.
Thursday March 25, there will be a group of Girl Scouts working on their Pet Care Badge at HS, starting at 10AM. Ann is our Scout Coordinator, and could use someone to help her with this. She has the materials. Christy will be helping Ann with this, but others are welcome.
We can still use more clerical
help with the Science Diet cards; weve made real progress, but could still use help. This is a requirement of the program we have with Science Diet, and we kind of got behind in sending them in. We are almost caught upjust a few more to go. Thanks to Ann, and Mary, and everyone who has been helping with this.
We have been hearing about
pet thefts by "bunchers"--people who steal dogs for dealers in laboratory animals. If you see what appears to be an animal control vehicle picking up an animal, please note the license, and check with the animal control agency. Or ask to see credentials. And please make sure your dogs are in secure areas.
We have firmed up our
2004 Dog Wash Schedule. Check the calendar on the website.
April 10-- Pet Photo shoot at the mall store. There is a nice poster on the web--think about printing it out and placing a few where folks can see them. The pictures have been wonderful, they can include kids with the pets--it's a good deal for the money, and a good fundraiser for HSPC!
Future Events:
March 28Birthday Party at the shelter. Need help!
April 2, 3-- ESPN Retriever Trials in Stuttgart at Mack's Wings over the Prairiewell have a booth and some adoptables. Cindy is going, Phyllis will try, Nancy Harm, the Lintons-- any one else? I am getting more information on this for everyone who is interested.
April 23--- Earth Day at the Zoo. We set up an information booth and take adoptables.
All day, every day---help is needed walking, bathing, playing with the dogs and cats of HSPC. The more time you spend with them, the more adoptable they become.
Adoptions: Libby, Forrest, Stanley, Josie
New Volunteers: Jennifer Lang, John Schissel, John Hook, Joseph Emmel.
I want to remind everyone that if they ever have problems or questions about helping at the shelter, please let me know.
Check our website: www.warmhearts.org; I update the adoptables every Sunday night. And check in on the
KTHV webcam. You might catch a kitty or puppy doing something cute!
For the Warm Hearts and Cold Noses...
