NEWS AND EVENTS - HSPC Week 6/14/04
Our Saturday Dog Wash in North Little Rock made $1132. Thanks to Richard and Melanie, Mary, Crystal, Gigi, Justin and Jessica.
And thanks to Gene, Teresa, Toby, Sean and Justin for helping at the
Sci-Fi event.
Saturday, June 19 -Whiskers at the Mall Our store and adoption center at University Mall will be open 10-4. If you want to help, contact Chris at
ellischris@uams.edu.
Thursday, June 17 at 7PM, there will be an organizational meeting for folks who might want to help with our donation boxes. These are the plastic containers that you see in stores. We need folks to deliver, maintain, and make pick-ups. Ann is organizing a team of volunteers. If you are interested, the meeting is at Crazy Hibachi in Lakewood Village at 7PM. If you are interested, but cant make the meeting, contact her at

Saturday June 19 - Dog Wash at Kroger, Taylor and Cantrell. Well need help setting up at 8:30AM, and will wash until 2.
Tell everyone you know who has a dog!
Come dressed to get wet. Our Dog Washes are a lot of fun, and raise a lot of money for HSPC!
Let me know if you plan to help. Kids are welcome.
Monday June 21, and Wednesday June 23, kids from Pathfinders will be visiting the shelter from 11-1; we need volunteers to make sure they have a good time, and to supervise their interactions with the animals.
Tuesday June 22 a group of kids from Pulaski Heights UMC will be visiting the shelter from 10-1. We need a few volunteers to supervise, and see that they have an enjoyable time.
We really need some volunteers for these three days.
Wednesday June 23 Underground Pub. 6PM until closing. Admission of $5, a percentage of sales, and proceeds from various promotions go to HSPC. Good music, food, drinks available. Bring your friends down to have fun and help HSPC!!! We made a lot of money at this last year, and a lot of HSPC folks got together and had a great evening! Lets do even better this year!

Tuesday June 28, 10:30. Another kids program at Maumelle Library. Anyone want to help?
Starting July 5, Pizza Hut will again donate 20% of sales on Monday 5-8PM to HSPC. Think of Monday as Pizza Night!
Reigning Cats and DogsRescheduled for October 16. Let me know if you want to help--either at the event, or soliciting auction items and/or sponsorships. Several folks have signed up to help already, and we appreciate knowing we can count on them.
The Arkansas Young Professionals Network (AYPN) is again putting on a Golf Tournament to benefit HSPC. If you are interested in helping with the planning/organizing of this, please let me know, and I will have them contact you. The Tournament will be in October.
We can still sell pages in our
2005 Dayplanner. If you would like a page honoring your pet, or would like a business card listing, or an honoraria or memorial, let me know and I will get the forms to you. Or you can check our website, and click on 2005 Dayplanner. Deadline of July 1 is fast approaching. This is going really well, and we are looking forward to it being a very successful project.
Have Items to Donate? - The shelter could also use donations of the following: tools; a weed eater, and a vehiclean SUV, pickup or van. This could be a nice tax deduction for someone, and a huge help to the shelter. Also a VCR

We still have some
Kroger cards to sell--and we want to order more. If you know anyone who wants one, let me know. And remind everyone to use them!! They don't help us if they aren't used! We should be getting our first check soon.

At the Shelter - All day, every day---help is needed walking, bathing, playing with the dogs and cats of HSPC. The more time you spend with them, the more adoptable they become. You dont need to schedule a timeif you have some time available, just come on down. Were open 11-6 every day, and until 8PM Mondays and Fridays.
New Volunteers: Teresa Turner; Susan and John Izard; Elizabeth Maze; Brenda Garner; Danielle Francois; Jonathan Aronson, and welcome back Lauren Thomas and Holly Villenes.
Adoptions: Simone; Goldie Hawn; Gray Boy Dugger; and Sylvia has been chosen to be trained as a service dog for a wheelchair bound woman.
