HSPC EVENTS 5/10/04
Delta Dog Daze was great! We made $650 from the contests, sold some shirts, Kroger cards, and have some good prospects for pages in our 2005 planner. Our dogs had a great time. We got to see lots of our alumni, and some great dogs doing tricks, wearing costumes, and just being dogs. Thanks to everyone who helped, and thanks to Jill Hutcherson who arranged it, and to Delta Trust.
Kroger Cards -
We have sold lots of Kroger Cards. This is a Gift Card program with Kroger that gives HSPC 5% of all of your purchases. It works like a debit card--you put money on it, then you debit it when you go through the checkout line. There is a $5 fee to get the card, BUT it is credited right back to you.
You have to get the card at the shelter, the Mall store, or from me. You can take several, and sell them to your friends and co-workers. It's a great way to make money for HSPC, and it costs nothing, and is very easy. If you need more info on how it works, or would like a flier to download and post on a bulletin board, let me know. We bought 200 from Kroger, and would like to have them all sold in the next few weeks, so we can order more.
Wednesday, May 12--the Uniform store at University Mall is doing a little event for us. If someone buys a gift for an animal, they get 10% off at the store. And we get a percentage of sales. We need someone to bring a pup or two. 10-2
Saturday, 5/15/04 Whiskers at the Mall--our offsite adoption center and storewe need help 10-4, and transporting animals. If you can help, contact Chris Ellis at dcellis@uams.edu. Also, we need help Friday night bathing animals and getting them ready. The staff really appreciates the help Friday night.
Saturday May 15-- Dog Wash at Kroger, Cantrell and Taylor, 9-2; we start setting up at 8:30, and always need help with that, too. We need a great day to make up for last weeks rain.
Saturday May 15, 10-2, is a carnival at Saddle Creek Church on HWY 10. The Moore family and Linda F will be there with puppies and kittens. Anyone else want to help?
Saturday May 22--Birthday party at the shelter, 2PM; we don't usually do them on Saturday, but this is a special situation. We'll need some volunteers to
help the kids with the animals.
Sunday, May 23--HSPC membership meeting and picnic. Burns Park. We're keeping it simple this year--bring your own lunch, bring your kids, bring your dogs.
Sunday May 30, the Asbury United Methodist Church on Napa Valley is having a Blessing of the Animals, and would like us to bring a few dogs. and give us a donation It is at 10AM. Can anyone go?
Saturday, June 5, 7PM is the Dance for the Animals, a concert of classical Indian Dance. Proceeds will benefit HSPC and a similar shelter in India. Check the website www.danceforanimals.org. Download the beautiful flyers and distribute them. This should be a wonderful cultural experience.
Our first Travelers game is June 9. We usually need three dog escorts.
Don't forget our
Puppy Love program; lots of places would love to have us visit. If you are interested in getting started, contact Patty Jorwall at: pjorwall@swbell.net
All day, every day---help is needed walking, bathing, playing with the dogs and cats of HSPC. The more time you spend with them, the more adoptable they become.
Adoptions:
Don Juan; Candice; GingerSnap; Elisa; Bette; Hancock; Wayne; Honey; Baby Hilary; lots of puppies; lots of kittens
Check here on our website: www.warmhearts.org; I update the adoptables every Sunday night.
And check in on the KTHV webcam. You might catch a kitty or puppy doing something cute!
Due to the many computer viruses out there, you may be getting e-mails with my name on them. My subject lines almost always start with HSPC; if you get something that looks suspicious, either contact me, or delete it.
For the Warm Hearts and Cold Noses...
