NEWS AND EVENTS

HSPC Week 8/9/2004

Our Dog Wash Saturday made $760. Thanks to Billye and Stoney, Dave and Rachel, Gene, John, Margie, Jan, and Brady. Jan figured out the easiest way to wash dogs is to get right in the tub; probably easier on the back! We had a beautiful day, and lots of great dogs.

Saturday, August 14 - Whiskers at the Mall. If you can help at the Mall store and adoption center, contact Chris at: ellischris@uams.edu

Sunday August 15 Birthday Party at the shelter. Need help supervising the kids. Please consider helping with this1:30 to 3:00pm.

Puppy Our Puppy Love program, (taking puppies to visit folks in nursing homes, shelters, etc) needs more volunteers. Please contact Patty at pjorwall@swbell.net for more information.

Starting July 5, Pizza Hut will again donate 20% of sales on Monday 5-8PM to HSPC. Think of Monday as Pizza Night! This is any Pizza Hut in Pulaski County, and includes delivery!

The shelter could also use donations of the following: tools; a weed eater, and a vehiclean SUV, pickup or van. This could be a nice tax deduction for someone, and a huge help to the shelter. We could also use occasional help mowing (we have a mower) and weeding the landscaped area.

Remember to USE YOUR KROGER GIFT CARDS!! And we have more to sell. Our first month brought in $600; this month we got less than $400, even though we have more cards out there. Remind folksthey dont help if we dont use them! And we get 5% of all purchase if you do use them. (If you want to buy one, or know someone who does, let me know. And our website explains how they work)

All day, every day---help is needed walking, bathing, playing with the dogs and cats of HSPC. The more time you spend with them, the more adoptable they become. You dont need to schedule a timeif you have some time available, just come on down. Were open 11-6 every day, and until 8PM Mondays and Fridays.

Adoptions: Prissy Missy (old, blind, deaf, and much loved in her new home); Frito! Kendra, Monica, June, Beverly, Dana, and all the puppies from the webcam room.

New Volunteers: Heather Tyrrell, (last week mistakenly called Katy.)

My home DSL service has been down, so I have not been getting emails at home. Until it is fixed (and if youve tried to deal with SBC DSL, youll know if wont be today!), if you need me, call me at 224-7859, or my cell 580-2966. I do have access to both this email, and nan513@ yahoo all day at work.

Let me know what you want to help with---
