NEWS AND EVENTS

HSPC Week 7/26/04

We have several kitten and puppy situations that call for foster homes. Kay just took in a litter of pups whose mom was killed by a car. Call the shelter-227-6166 and ask whats available that you might want to help with short term.

Saturday, July 31-Whiskers at the Mall If you can help at the Mall store and adoption center, contact Chris at: ellischris@uams.edu

Tuesday July 27Program at Maumelle Library. Ann needs help, especially transporting the animals. The library folks called, and said it was so great last time, even more kids are coming to this one, and can we please bring more animals? So we could use more help. It starts at 10:30 AM. If you can help, contact Ann at: celticcanine@comcast.net (note the new email for Ann), and let me know, too. Mary is helping, but we really could use a few more.

Wednesday, July 28 a group of kids from Trinity UMC is coming to visit. It would be great if a volunteer or two would be there to show them around. They will be there at 1.

Saturday August 7Dog Wash at Trinity. We need help. Last dog wash didnt have enough volunteers, and we were exhausted!

Our Puppy Love program, (taking puppies to visit folks in nursing homes, shelters, etc) needs more volunteers. Please contact Patty at pjorwall@swbell.net for more information.

Starting July 5, Pizza Hut will again donate 20% of sales on Monday 5-8PM to HSPC. Think of Monday as Pizza Night! This is any Pizza Hut in Pulaski County, and includes delivery!

The shelter could also use donations of the following: tools; a weed eater, and a vehicle an SUV, pickup or van. This could be a nice tax deduction for someone, and a huge help to the shelter. We could also use occasional help mowing (we have a mower) and weeding the landscaped area.

Remember to USE YOUR KROGER CARDS!! And we have more to sell. Our first month brought in $600; this month we got less than $400, even though we have more cards out there. Remind folksthey dont help if we dont use them!

All day, every day---help is needed walking, bathing, playing with the dogs and cats of HSPC. The more time you spend with them, the more adoptable they become. You dont need to schedule a timeif you have some time available, just come on down. Were open 11-6 every day, and until 8PM Mondays and Fridays.

Adoptions: Martina; Meg; Jack Skeeter; Cricket; Sumner; Josephine; TinkerBelle

New Volunteers: David and Clare Frueaff; Divesh and Ashley Brahmbhart; Brenda Snow

And dont forget to check here on our websitewww.warmhearts.org - I update the animals every Sunday night.

Let me know what you want to help with---
