NEWS AND EVENTS

HSPC Week 10/18/04

Short term foster homes needed for 5 adorable Beagle puppies, and also their mom. These were lost doggies that someone found and has been caring for. They have had their first shots, and are as cute as can be. The shelter will be taking them in for adoption as room becomes available. I have a few pictures if you want to see them.

Reigning Cats and Dogs was a big success. We dont have final numbers yet, but it looked good. Thanks to everyone who helped. Debbie and Laurel did a great job pulling it all together, and we had a great group of volunteers. It was great to see so many of our volunteers and supporters.

Saturday, October 23-- Whiskers at the Mall. If you can help, contact Chris at ellischris@uams.edu.

Our 2005 Dayplanner/Calendars will be on sale October 23; we are having a little delay getting them all. We had some at Reigning, but I think we came close to selling out. We should have some at the shelter, etc, shortly. These are great, useful planners, with wonderful photos of our supporters companion animals, and original artwork by local artist Bob Crane. They will be available at: HSPC; Whiskers; Wordsworth Books; Premium Pet; Faux Pas; Twin City Bank-Heights and Riverdale; Tack Room; Caracalla Salon; Winterberry; OneBanc-Financial Center, and at Reigning Cats and Dogs.

These beautiful books will make thoughtful holiday gifts, and will help HSPC. The price is $20.

Birthday Parties - Our 10/24 birthday party has been cancelled, but we have parties scheduled for 11/7, 11/14 and 11/21. Think about helping with these perhaps even running one, so I can have a Sunday off!

October 30 is Harvest Fest in Hillcrest/Heights. Each year we have a table with t-shirts, and handouts, and we take a few adoptables. It is usually fun, and the dogs love the outing. We could use a morning shift and an afternoon shift. Our usual spot is on Kavanaugh near Delta Trust, but hasnt been confirmed for this year yet. Let me know if you want to help with this.

Puppy Puppy Love - If you are interested in Puppy Love, contact Patty at Pjorwall@swbell.net

Humane Education - If you are interested in Humane Ed or helping with the collection boxes, contact Ann at: celticcanine@comcast.net

Shelter Needs - The shelter could really use a digital camera. If youve upgraded and have one you arent using, wed love to have it. And while were dreaming, a used van, SUV or truck would be a huge help. And a nice tax deduction for the donor.

Kroger Card - Remember to USE YOUR KROGER GIFT CARDS!! They dont help if we dont use them! And we get 5% of all purchase if you do use them. We have sold more cards, but are getting less money. Are you remembering to reload and use them?

All day, every day---help is needed walking, bathing, playing with the dogs and cats of HSPC. The more time you spend with them, the more adoptable they become. You dont need to schedule a timeif you have some time available, just come on down. Were open 11-6 every day, and until 8PM Mondays and Fridays.

Adoptions: Cookie; Peggy, Helen and Steve, Louie, Wallace, Miranda, Elizabeth, Catrice; Gretel

New Volunteers: Karen Delcolos; Nichole Ramsey; Hilary McAlister; Christina Ramsey; Autumn Jacob; Roma Snow; Dustin Doddridge; Holly Delcos; Megan Berry; Miguel Gomes; Wanda Varsas; Amber Koehn; and one more young man whose name I cant read!
