NEWS AND EVENTS

HSPC Events 2/7/05

Short-Term Foster Homes - * There are several dogs who have been at the shelter a very long time. These are perfectly nice dogs, just overlooked. A few of them are very shy. We would like to place a few of them in short-term foster homes, where they will get extra attention, love, andsome time out of the shelter! (We are thinking perhaps a week or two). While we love our dogs, and take very good care of them, theres nothing like a home! Our hope is that they would pick up the social skills and confidence that would make it easier to place them permanently. We are thinking right now of Layla, Sue, and Red (also known as Hays). Or, if you have a particular dog you know and think would benefit from this, let me know. We will screen these halfway homes carefullyprefer no other pets, etc. If you are interested, or have any questions/suggestions, let me know.

*Wednesday February 2. We had an Organizational meeting for 2006 Dayplanner. If you couldnt make it, but are still interested, let me know, and I will send you a list of committees and their chairmen, so you can sign up. Any questions, just let me know.

*Saturday, February 12- Whiskers at the Mall. If youd like to help at the store, contact Chris at: Ellischris@uams.edu

*February 10 from 7 until 10: The second annual Mardi Paws will be held at the Holiday Inn East (Airport). The event, sponsored by Bobbisox and the Little Rock Bop Club, will be a dance with a silent auction, games. Debbie said e-mailed those people who said were interested in helping, but they never responded. I don't know if that means you didnt get her email, or decided not to help. If you want to help, just show up at Bobbisox at 6:45, and she will give you assignments... (It would, however, be great if you would let her know ahead of time that you are planning to help).nicsmom5@aristotle.net Please consider helping set up, etc, and then relax and enjoy the fun! Kimber and Lorrie are scheduled to transport animals.

Susan Vogel Memorial Marathon - *Holly Roper, of Female Physique, is running the first annual Susan Vogel Memorial Marathon in honor of her mother, Susan Vogel. The Marathon is April 17 in New Jersey. (The New Jersey Marathon) All her sponsorships are being donated to the HSPC. She has already raised several thousand dollars, and hopes to raise $50,000.
