NEWS AND EVENTS
HSPC Events 1/17/05

We could use a few volunteers to drive animals to the vets for their spays and neuters. This would be early in the morning one or two mornings a week. And also folks to pick them up after 5 and return them to the shelter. If we had a few people, we could set up a schedule so you would only have to do it once or twice a month. This would be a big help at the shelter. If you could help with this, call Kay at the shelter227-6166, and she can tell you which days are scheduled at what locations. Several folks have started doing this, and it is a bigger help than you would think!!! Even if you want to leave your number for an emergency situation, wed appreciate it!
DAYPLANNERS: We have about thirty left, if you or anyone you know still would like to buy one! This was a wonderful fundraiser for us, and we plan to do it again for next year. It takes a lot of work to produce, so we will be organizing committees soon. Think about helping this year, and start getting great pictures of your animals! Ill let you know when we have the first meeting.

We have a new shipment of
Kroger Cards. Some are at the shelter, and some at the store. Please remember to use your Kroger Gift Cards when doing your grocery shopping. (You can use them in the pharmacy, too). It is a good way to help HSPC with no extra cost to you!
If you havent heard about Kroger Gift Cards, let me know, and I will explain it. It is also on our website.
Monday, 1/24, at 6:30 PM at the shelter, we would like to have a meeting of folks interested in Humane Education. Ann has developed a wonderful program in several schools, and needs some help. More and more groups want to take part in this, and besides being fun and a great opportunity to recruit future volunteers, donors, and supporters, it helps when applying for grants. To find out more about it, and how you can help, come to the meeting, and/or contact Ann at
Celticcanine@comcast.net.
The second annual Mardi Paws will be held at the Holiday Inn East on February 10 from 7 until 10. The event, sponsored by Bobbisox and the Little Rock Bop Club, will be a dance with a silent auction, games, etc. We will have a few puppies and kittens for the crowd to wow over and need volunteers who can pick them up from the shelter and take them home for the evening. We can also use some volunteers to help with the auction, as well as a few auction items. The cover charge is an optional $5.00. All benefits go to HSPC. This is a great outing for volunteers to get together in a festive situation and celebrate our animals! Last year this event made $1700.00. Let's see if we can top it! Come dance, or watch the wonderful swing dancers in action! Kimber and Lorrie have offered to take puppies.
Holly Roper, of Female Physique, is running the first annual Susan Vogel Memorial Marathon in honor of her mother, Susan Vogel. The Marathon is April 17 in New Jersey (The New Jersey Marathon). All her sponsorships are being donated to the HSPC. She has already raised several thousand dollars, and hopes to raise $50,000.
