NEWS AND EVENTS

HSPC Events 3/14/05

Saturday, March 19- Whiskers at the Mall. If youd like to help at the store, contact Chris at: Ellischris@uams.edu

Sign Express has donated two new signs for our dog washes, and they are great. We really appreciate it. Our street signs are what bring people in. The dog wash calendar, that Lorrie designed, should be on the website shortly, but it is again first and third Saturdays in Little Rock, fourth Saturdays in NLR.. Now if someone can guarantee perfect weather, we should have a great dog wash season! Our goal: $15,000!

Puppy Love Our Puppy Love program needs more volunteers. There are more facilities wanting visits than we have volunteers to go. If you would like to learn more about this program, contact Patty, at pjorwall@episcopalcollegiate.org

Day Planner Day Planner - If you want to have your pets picture in our 2006 Day planner, let me know and I will send you a page purchase form We are limiting the number of pages, so it will be first come; last year we had to turn folks away! We also have updated information on the Warm Hearts website.

Short Term Fosters - We are still looking for some short-term fosters for some of our animals that would benefit from time away from the shelter (who wouldnt). Some time spent in a loving home might increase confidence and social skills, and make them more adoptable. If you are interested, or have any questions, let me know.

Fun with the Puppies - It was a beautiful day Saturday, and Karen and Suzanne set up a temporary Puppy Park, complete with pool, and took all the puppies out to play. What fun! The puppies had a great time interacting, and getting wet, muddy and tired! Exactly what puppies love to do. All the pups were cleaned up and in bed by closing time, and contented snores were quick to follow.

All day, every day -- help is needed walking, bathing, playing with the dogs and cats of HSPC. The more time you spend with them, the more adoptable they become. You dont need to schedule a timeif you have some time available, just come on down. Were open 11-6 every day, and until 8PM Mondays and Fridays. Some new volunteers have been spending a lot of time with them, and they really appreciate it!

When you walk the dogs... One of our volunteers had put racks with poop bags by each door. Please take some and pick up after the dogs you walk! Now that it is nice weather, people will be spending more time outdoors with the animals. Lets all help keep it clean!
