NEWS AND EVENTSHSPC Events 9/12/05
Hurricane Help - We sent a fully-packed 18 wheeler with food and supplies to Louisiana. We are collecting more, and will have another truck going soon. We are also maintaining a list of people who will take animals into their homes. Also will need a list of people willing to drive to LA and MS to pick up animals, when the need arises.
Fosters - We are trying to find a foster home for a cute, elderly Cocker Spaniel, who recently had a cancerous tumor removed. She is perky and active, and we would love for her to have a nice home for her remaining time, She is on our website, her name is Granny.
Our bricks are in. Years ago, we had a brick drive---people could buy a brick and have it inscribed with their name, or that of a pet. The money raised was used for our new building. We are now ready to make a beautiful walkway with the bricks. If you have brick-setting skills and would like to help, please let us know.
Tile Help - Also, we received a donation of a lot of tile. We want to use it in place of the rubber cove molding, which the animals trash quickly. If you would like to help set the tile (at the bottom of the walls), let us know. We'd like to start this project soon.
Saturday September 17--Dog wash at Kroger. We'll need help...
Whiskers at the Mall. Saturday Sept 17-- If you would like to help at our mall store contact Chris at ellischris@uams.edu.
Saturday Sept 24--One extra dog wash at Trinity--all proceeds to go to our Dog Park fund. Thanks to a major donation, we have almost enough money to get started with fencing and plumbing for our dog play area. Come out an help Karen and Susann make it a success. Our Dog Play area is going to happen!!!!
Saturday Sept 24--Event at Little Rock Dog Training Club--need dog escorts. This should be a fun event.
Reigning Cats and Dogs---We had a wonderful turn out at our meeting; If you are interested in helping with registration, check out (cashiers), ticket sales, publicity, poster distribution, and/or set up and take down at the event, or table monitor, let me know and I will have the committee chairman contact you.
Stone County Rescue - If you know some one who wants a Chihuahua, MinPin, or other small dog, we still have some available from the rescue in Stone County; have them contact Kay at the shelter.
October 1 - Pageant at University Mall proceeds to HSPC. Do you, or someone you know have a gorgeous little boy or girl? Volunteer Brittney Ward, who runs pageants, is running one with proceeds to HSPC. If you want to participate, or want more information, contact Brittney at brittney1979@hotmail.com. I have entrance and donation forms, too, if you want some.
October 1 -- David Thomas Antiques on Bowman is having an event, and we will be the beneficiary. We can take adoptables, etc.
October 1--Rockhounds--we can take adoptables to the Rock Club outing in Jacksonville. If interested, le me know
October 21--Third Annual AYPN Golf Tournament. Go to www.aypn.org and click on Paws for the Cause for more information and application form. We need volunteers for this! If interested, contact Richard Morgan at casperbryantmimi@yahoo.com
November 11 -- Second Friday Art Night in Little Rock. Rivermarket ArtSpace is dedicating a percentage of sales this night to HSPC. We can have dogs and cats there, and hand out information. Plus have a good time!Second Friday Art Night is a lot of fun--free trolley rides from gallery to gallery; food, wine, art...and this time, cats and dogs! Also, volunteers, think about helping with adoptions. More animals get adopted if the potential adopters get personal attention. Helping with adoptions is my favorite thing to do, but I am not there all the time. If you like seeing our dogs and cats going to wonderful homes, and would like to help with adoptions, let me know, and I will be happy to get you started
A reminder --if you have an HSPC Kroger Gift card, don't forget to use it! And we have some more, if you know anyone who wants one.
Puppy Love---We still need more volunteers for Puppy Love. Christina would like to schedule more visits. You can contact Christina for more information at: ramseyresources@aol.com Her phone # is 766-6662. Christina has a lotof peple on her list, but is having a hard time getting teams together for visits. This is something you can do with your kids!
Pizza Hut-- the new vouchers will be on the website shortly.. They include a 10% discount for the bearer on the purchase, (no other coupons will be accepted.) The current fund- raiser is dead. The new one begins this Monday and is extended through November. 20% of your purchase will still come to HSPC. Think Pizza on Mondays. I can email you some to print out if you ask.
Adoptions: Spanky, Jeeves, Rhoda, Brooksie and other kittens and puppies.
