NEWS AND EVENTS

HSPC Week 12/5

Thanks to everyone who responded to all the puppy emergencies last week. Im afraid they will keep comingthere seems to be more puppies than I ever remember for this time of year. Right now we are looking for a place for a beautiful Australian Shepherd a Blue Merle with a blue eye (and a brown one)and her precious Aussie pups. Lots of spots in this family! They were born Friday, and she is a very good mom. It would be so much better for them to all be together in a home. As usual, we will provide supplies and take them all back when they are adoptable

We need more volunteers to come and supervise dogs in the new Dog Park. We have this lovely facility for them to run and playbut they need you to take them out there and watch them play. We even have benches for you to sit on!

Saturday 12/3 and Sunday 12/4Pet Photos with Santa was a success. I dont have the final count, but it is in the $450 range. Thank to Santas Chris and Larry, and Martha and the others who helped, and to Stephanie for the use of her lovely new shop.

Saturday 12/3--Downtown Holiday Parade. Our dogs had a wonderful time, came home tired, hungry, and for once almost eager to return to their runs. About 12 dogs went, and they looked adorable in matching red elf collars with bells. Thanks to Jana Marie and Debbie H for making them, to our spectacular Scooby- Deb Currie, and to escorts Shannon, Sarah, Katie, John F, Caroline and friend, Jana Marie and twins, four folks from Civitans, Lara and Michael and Laras sister, and probably some others that I have forgotten, and John T who helped get it all together. I will call and see if we won a prize and let everyone know.

Don't forget our 2006 Day Planners. They are on sale at a store near you, the shelter, and by mail. Check the link to our website. Or go to www.warmhearts.org, and click on the headline about Day Planners, for a list of outlets, and a mail order form. They really do make great holiday gifts.

Kuranda Beds - Want to do something nice for the shelter dogs? Donate a Kuranda bed. Heres how: go to www.kuranda.com and click on donate a bed. Select our state and then select HSPC. Choose the size bed you want to donate. The choices are: Large, $54 (The large ones are big enough for any of our dogs) We could also use some smaller ones. HSPC will be notified of your donation, and the bed will be shipped directly to HSPC. These are indestructible, raised beds, which will keep our dogs off the cold concrete floors, and also help them to have a clean place to sleep (or lounge). If you have a particular dog you want to donate a bed for, let me know, and I will see that he/she gets it.. So far, 24 have been donated, and the dogs are enjoying them! Whiskers at the Mall. Saturday December 10-- If you would like to help at our mall store, contact Chris at ellischris@uams.edu

December 11 - Birthday party at the shelter. Hayden is helping.

Adoptions: Elvis Aaron; Pee Pie; Clark; Gia; Sachi; Truffles; and lots of kittens and puppies

Next volunteer Orientation, December 5 (tonight) at 6:30 at the shelter. This will be the last one until January 7, 2006
