NEWS AND EVENTS

Foster Homes - We really need some temporary foster homes for certain dogs.
  • #1. A sweet Shepherd type (but only about 34 pounds) about to have pups. Needs a quiet place to have and nurse her puppies.
  • #2. A small (12 poundish) friendly little dog needs a peaceful place to raise her three precious newborn pups;
  • #3. Six little mixed breed puppies came in yesterday. They eat from a dish. They have been wormed and inoculated, but need a place to stay while their shots "take".
We will take all back when they are adoptable (2 weeks for the six pups--and you don't have to take all of them!), and we will furnish all supplies, vet care, etc that they might need. Call Vickie at the shelter--227-6166, and let me know, too.

Saturday, November 12 at 1PM will be the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of our new Dog Park! Plan on coming to celebrate, and perhaps take your favorite dog out to play. A few of our dogs tested it out this weekend, and they were very impressed! There will be refreshments, media coverage, and lots of doggie fun.

November 11--Second Friday Art Night in Little Rock. River Market ArtSpace is dedicating a percentage of sales this night to HSPC. We can have dogs and cats there, and hand out information. Plus have a good time! Second Friday Art Night is a lot of fun--free trolley rides from gallery to gallery; food, wine, art... and this time, cats and dogs! ArtSpace owner Debra Wood is an HSPC supporter, and recently adopted a darling kitty from us. You can check her website at:www.rivermarketartspace.com - click on "gallery news." We will be needing a few Dog escorts, including someone to ride on the trolley with a puppy! (Hard work!) So far, Erin and Jennifer M have signed up.

Our Day Planners are now available, and they are beautiful. The list of places to purchase them, plus a mail order form, are on our website www.warmhearts.org - They make great holiday gifts.

Kuranda Bed - Want to do something nice for the shelter dogs? Donate a Kuranda bed. Heres how: go to www.kuranda.com and click on donate a bed. Select our state and then select HSPC. Choose the size bed you want to donate. The choices are: Large, $54 and X-Large, $64. (The large ones are big enough for any of our dogs) These beds have been tested by our Ozzie. Ozzie loves the bed and, believe me, if Ozzie can't destroy it, nobody can.

HSPC will be notified of your donation, and the bed will be shipped directly to HSPC. These are indestructible, raised beds, which will keep our dogs off the cold concrete floors, and also help them to have a clean place to sleep (or lounge). If you have a particular dog you want to donate a bed for, let me know, and I will see that he/she gets it. Bing, Camille, Olive Oyl, LittleFeet, Brent, and a few others already have beds ordered for them.

Whiskers at the Mall. Saturday November 12-- If you would like to help at our mall store contact Chris at ellischris@uams.edu

Holiday pictures of your animals - we will be offering this at a few locations. One of them will be at the new Bath Junkie shop at Bowman Curve on December 3 and 4th. I will have more information shortly, but tell your friends. Bedford Camera will be supplying a professional photographer.

Nov 20--Birthday Party at the shelter. Please consider helping.

Kroger Card - A reminder --if you have an HSPC Kroger Gift card, don't forget to use it! And we have some more, if you know anyone who wants one. We earned $479 from August use of Kroger cards. Ill have Septembers total shortly.

Adoptions: Copper; Valerie; Luke; Olivia

Next volunteer orientation: November 7 6:30 PM at the shelter

Upcoming Events:
Fri Nov 11 Downtown Art Scene - 2nd Friday Art Night
Sun Nov 20 Birthday party
Sat Dec 4 Downtown Holiday Parade. Need dog escorts. Also, if you know of a group that would like to decorate a truck or make a float, we'd be thrilled.

And be sure to check our web site- www.warmhearts.org - I update every Sunday night.
