Our Adoption Event at Whole Foods Saturday was fun! We made around $200, and had an adoption! Thanks Gene, Kimber, Ali, Karen, Jennifer, and the folks from UALR who all helped. Laura, Julie G, Malinda, MArtha and Jill F took dogs to Harvest Fest, and had two adoptions!

WASH EVERY DOG DAY==OCTOBER 5. Before we put away our dog wash equipment for the year, we usually set up at the shelter and wash all the shelter dogs. This year it's kind of short notice, but if we can get enough volunteers, we will do it next Sunday. Let me know if you can help. We should wash from around 11-6; you can do an early shift, or a later one, and need at least ten people per shift, in addition to John and me. It's hard work, but fun,and the dogs enjoy their baths in spite of their initial reservations! I will send an email on Wednesday or Thursday if we have enough people, so let me know, and which shift you prefer!

Susann is coordinating classes for anyone interested in working directly with our dogs. The classes are led by Cindy and Phyllis. If you are interested, contact Susann at gotsusann@gmail.com. Dog Walker Orientation is a one day, two hour class that will teach you the do's and don'ts of shelter dog walking.. Dog Training Classes are four-week courses (2 hours per class for each of 4 consecutive Saturdays) that teach our dogs the basics of canine "good citizenship", make them more adoptable, and the dogs and trainers have a lot of fun and learn a new skill. So contact Susann for either of these.Or just let Susann know if you would like to meet her there to get started volunteering. She will be happy to show you how, and introduce you to our "regulars"... a great group of people who welcome help in getting the dogs out to play and exercise And there is a blue binder on the front counter to write notes on the dogs you work with...to pass on to other volunteers and potential adopters . **Laura is plannng similar training for people interested in knowing more about working with our cats. Those classes will be on alternate Monday nights at 6. Contact Laura to sign up for the first class, at laurajade76@yahoo.com Walk for the Animals, October 18th, at the Clinton Library. Among the volunteers we will need are: 2-3 strong folks to help erect the stage; 2 for contest registration; 2-3 to run the contests; volunteers to bring adoptables; volunteers to supervise "Heavy Petting Area"; volunteers to take down and clean up. Let me know what you would like to help with.So far Suraya, Jennifer W, Kassandra, and Peyton, as well as Laura and the adoption committee have signed up.This from Michelle, event coordinator: Hey Everyone, Thank you for thinking about volunteering for the Walk for the Animals scheduled for Saturday, October 18th at the Clinton Presidential Center Park. You are invited to a meeting on:
Wednesday, October 1 5:30pm
Brownings Restaurant, 5805 Kavanaugh, LR
We will discuss volunteer assignments for the day of the event, as well as how to spread the word during the crucial two weeks beforehand. I believe with all of us working together we can make this Walk a successful fund-raiser. Please tell your friends and co-workers to visit www.warmhearts.org and consider forming a team for the Walk. If you cannot attend the meeting, but wish to help please give Michelle a call at 529-6330.
