The North Little Rock Dog Wash made $930!! Thanks to the Robinsons--( David, Tammy, Molly and
Lauren),Rebecca, Sara and Shianne, James and Janet, Gene, Billye, Pat and her family,,I know it
was hard work in all that heat...but that's a lot of money for our animals!!!.
Next Dog Wash--Saturday August 2, at Trinity...and of course we'll need help! Let me know if you
will be there...and who has the "Dog Wash Saturday" sign? I need to get it back by Tuesday!!
The puppy mill dogs are resting comfortably at the shelter. They all need medical care and time to
recover from anemia, mange, heartworms and infections. They won't be ready for adoption or
fostering for at least a month. IF YOU, OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS INTERESTED I ADOPTING, SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION. The approved adopters will be notified when they are ready, and invited to come and
choose. Applications are available on the webiste, under "Adoption Procedures"
We have received some very nice donations, but can still use: small dog beds,(cat beds would work);
receiving blankets; preemie/newborn baby clothes; baby wash cloths, sheets, towels, xsmall and
small shirts (not sweaters or coats); Neutracal; baby food..meat, 2nd stage; steroidal eye cream;
Science Diet or any good brand of small bite dog food
Pedialyte, unflavored
Oatmeal or itch-relief shampoo; flea and tick shampoo
And thank you to everyone who has so generously donated these items. so far!
August 2nd, we need about 15 volunteers to sell beer and liquor at the kick-boxing event.
Roli Delgado,volunteer Mary Stephens' son, is running this event,and will give 25% of drink sales
to HSPC for helping. We did this last year, and made over $2000; this year should be even more,as
there are more drink stands. If you can help, please let me know. Volunteers need to be there
around 5:30 to set up, and the event lasts until 10:30. And, if you are interested in this sport,
it should be a good show. This is what he sent:

Need Volunteers for 2 beer stands and 1 liquor stand
So far, Katie, Donna, Will and Sara, Becky, Laura, Kay, KeriJo... and some members of the
Parrot Head Club. We could use more!!! Mary and or Roli will contact those who have signed up to
confirm arrangements. Let me know if you don't hear from them by Tuesday

1> st Saturday: Briarwood 10:30 a.m.
> 2nd Saturday: Parkway 10:00a.m.
> 3rd Saturday: Presbyterian Village 10;00 a.m.
> 4th Saturday: Parkview 10:30 a.m.
> Meet at the shelter a half hour before, to get your puppy ready. Jill can no longer do the
visits to Dorcas House. If anyone wants to take over, let me and Leah know
Reigning Cats and Dogs will be November 15, If you are interested in promoting the event and/or

a meeting in the fall for the folks who help at the actual event) . If you are interested in

Dog Training Classes, by contacting Phyllis at Phyllisnewt@ hotmail.com These four-week courses
teach our dogs the basics of canine "good citizenship" , make them ore adoptable, and the dogs and
trainers have a lot of fun; contact Phyllis if you would like to be part of it!
**We have some really nice HSPC merchandise available, some just for volunteers, some for

Remember to use your Kroger Card! They don't help us if you don't use them! If you don't have one, I JUST GOT 50 MORE! LET ME KNOW
IF YOU WANT ONE AND I WILL MAIL IT. We're not keeping them at the shelter any more. If you don't
know how they work, let me know and I will explain this painless way to make money for the shelter.
**Dr Medlock, our staff vet, has put a green binder up front, for volunteers to write down any illness or problems that they
might observe. She promises to look at it first thing when she comes in.
**Christine is again going to do our Critter Camps. This is the last date, if you know any
children over 8 that would enjoy it, or if you would like to help: August 1 (11am-3 pm )

Pyle, Sue Belcher, Janelle and Joanna Fureigh
Adoptions: Sammie and Missie (the two chubby cats in the lobby!); Tinker and Nubbin; Reba; Max;
Skittles; Roxie Girl; Espresso; Merlin; Wizaed; ET; Jude; Copper; all seven Puggles;
Spunky (Beagle), and lots of puppies and kittens
Thanks to the folks who did some shopping at Coldwater Creek. We don't have the numbers yet, but
they were pleased, and plan to do it more often.
