**We need some folks to run our NLR Dog washes this summer. If you can help, let me know, and I
will help you get set up.Otherwise, we will not do NLR this year. We made about $1600 at the NLR
washes last year.
We have our First Saturday spot at Trinity confirmed for this year's dog washes...first one May 3;
will confirm the Kroger washes this week.Save the date for helping at the first dog was...it's
always really busy!
** A local band, The Shivs, are doing a benefit for HSPC at the Cornerstone Pub on Main Street in
North Little Rock..(Argenta) on April 12. The $5 cover charge will go directly to HSPC! Come on out
and have a good time with other HSPC folks, and help our animals at the same time! Starts at 9
**Some students at UALR are doing an adoption event at the school on Monday 4/7 from 10-4; we would
really like to have some HSPC people help transport, and be there to answer questions.
Gene, Christine, Jill, Martha and Katie are going, and Kristen will come later to help out...
Is anyone else available to go? Be at the shelter before 10 to meet with the UALR women, and get a
dog.

**April 18/19 is Earth Day, and the Zoo has invited us to set up with handouts and adoptables.
On Thursday, Lori W, Amber T, Jill F, Gene, Christine, Joanna and Renae are going;
Saturday Leslie S and husband; Katie T; John F; Kari; Ann; Erica and Brandon; Hollis and Lauren;
Jennifer and Brad; Jamie; Alexis and Josh; Sharon M are going
Also April 19...Employee Fair at Maybelline. We have been invited to bring adoptables and handouts
to this outdoor event at Maybellne. Employees are looking at charities to donate to and to
volunteer, so I hope we can make a nice showing. It's 10-2; Donna has offered to go, so far
And, also on the 19, the United Methodist Women are having a Mission Market at Philander Smith,
and have invited us, too. If anyone could take a dog...
That is lot of events on the 19th!
**April 26, "Craws for the Paws" fundraiser at RiverMarket west pavilion. Craw fish, beer,
live music, fun...this is not an HSPC event, but one that should be fun, and will benefit us.

We are going to take part in the Adoptathon, a national program arranged by the North Shore Animal
League to help get a lot of animals adopted. May 3rd and 4th. I will put a link to the flyer on
the web later tonight. Everyone is welcome to help
If you would like to learn a new skill and help our dogs get adopted, sign up for our Dog Training
Classes, by contacting Phyllis at Phyllisnewt@hotmail.com These four-week courses teach our dogs
the basics of canine "good citizenship", make them ore adoptable, and the dogs and trainers have
a lot of fun.
** For those of us who don't get to see our dogs on Channel 4 on Thursdays at 6:15 AM, you can now

Check our website for information on buying a page, or sponsorshop, of the 2009 DayPlanner. We are
already selling pages, so don't wait too long...last year we had to turn away people, or the book
would be too thick!!
**Dr Medlock, our staff vet, has put a green binder up front, for volunteers to write down any
illness or problems that they might observe. She promises to look at it first thing when she comes
in.
