**March 15 is the St Patrick's Day Parade. Lorrie has offered to coordinate it. She did such a
great job with the Christmas parade. If you want to take a dog, and/or help Lorrie, let me know,
and I will put you in touch! We did this last year and it was fun, but it will be great to be more
organized this year! Several folks have signed up already.
**April 18/19 is Earth Day, and the Zoo has again invited us to set up with handouts and adoptables.
I know it is a long way off, but it would be great if we could organize something and do it. We
haven't done it for the past two years, but it would be nice to participate again. The dogs we take
always enjoy an outing.Erica has volunteered, and Leslie and her husband. Tell me which days you
can help. We'd love to have at least 8 people on Saturday, and will be happy for as many as we can
get on Friday!! We plan to have a book showing all of our adoptables, a poster for Special Friends
Sponsorships, and lots of adoptables in person (or "in dog?")
**April 26, "Craws for the Paws" fundraiser at RiverMarket west pavillion. Crawfish, beer, live
music, fun...
**Our Kroger cards made $599 for January... If you don't have one, please consider getting one;
if you have one, please remember to use it..and if you don't know about them, contact me, and I'll
explain.
**Folks, Kay has asked that volunteers follow some guidelines: when taking dogs to the dog park :
*Not too many dogs..no more than 3 per volunteer, and no more than 5 in each park.
*Pick up after your dog
*Remember to put it back
*Make sure the gender mix isn't such that we'll get puppies
*Make sure that all dogs have someone watching them at all times
*If you don't know the dogs, ask staff if they get along with other, or if they have special friends
they like to play with.
*Check collars, and make sure they aren't loose enough to slip off, or too tight.
*When taking puppies out (and we'll soon be having lots of puppies) make sure they have had their
second set of shots, and of course, like big dogs, never leave them unattended...
**Dr Medlock, our staff vet, has put a green binder up front, for volunteers to write down any
