Subject: SB 777: VICTORY Round 1!
Congratulations to all of
you on a great victory today in Little Rock! SB 777
passed out of Senate Judiciary this morning – and on a voice vote no less! I am so sorry I could not be there, but
a HUGE thanks to all of you for your hard work in spreading the word about our
bill. By all accounts (including
the news), we made a VERY impressive showing. Senator Madison (who is my mom if you
haven’t figured that out yet!) said the room was packed, that our supporters
were visible (thanks to whoever had the great signs and buttons!), and that
everyone was polite and respectful of the process. I also want to extend a big thanks to
Sheriff John Montgomery (Baxter
County) and Dr. Bob Hale
(Little Rock)
for being outstanding witnesses. I
also want to publicly acknowledge Dan Bugg of Hot Springs Animal Services. Dan was prepared to speak, but because
time was running short, he didn’t get the chance to do so. Dan – thank you and just hold on to that
testimony for the House!
Our work, though, is far
from done. We have a good list of
supporters already, but we still need several votes in the full Senate before we
can bring the bill to the floor for a vote. Following is a list of Senators we need
to work on, and an email or phone call from a constituent could be the deciding
factor. If you know anyone in these
Senate districts, urge them to get in touch with their Senators ASAP. If one of these Senators is your
Senator, call them and lobby hard! The
Senate switchboard is 501-682-2902.

PLEASE PLEASE make every effort to
reach out to people you know in these cities and counties. The last thing we want is for a Senator to say
"no one contacted me." The success of this effort is truly
dependent upon your grass roots efforts, so keep up the good work. And thanks again for the impressive
showing today!
